Many contractors use "toe boards" as pictured below to stand on when installing a new roof or making repairs.  While I'm all for contractor safety, caring contractors can use harnesses or "rake boards" instead.  When a contractor uses toe boards they drive several nails right through your roof covering and damage the roof they may have just installed.  Poking holes in a new roof is not a good way to prevent leaks or ensure maximum life of a roof covering.
